Department of Rachana Sharir (Anatomy)

“The Architecture of the Human Body”

The Department of Rachana Sharir provides the physical map of the human body. Understanding the “Rachana” (structure) is the first step toward becoming a skilled clinician or surgeon.

  • Cadaveric Dissection: Our department emphasizes hands-on learning. Through the respectful dissection of human cadavers, students gain an unparalleled 3D understanding of muscles, bones, nerves, and organs.
  • Marma Vidya: A specialized area of study in this department is Marma Shaastra—the science of vital points. Students learn to identify these 107 sensitive points on the body, which is essential for trauma care and therapeutic treatments like Marma Therapy.
  • Sira, Dhamani, and Srotas: We teach the intricate networks of channels that carry fluids and energies throughout the body, comparing classical descriptions with modern vascular and neurological systems.
  • Embryology (Garbha Shaastra): Students study the miraculous journey of life from conception (Garbhadhana) to the development of various organs, blending ancient developmental insights with modern embryological stages.

Vision and Mission

Vision

To provide an unparalleled structural understanding of the human body by synthesizing classical Marma science with modern surgical anatomy, creating a 3D anatomical map for the future Ayurvedic surgeon.

Mission

  • Direct Observation: To facilitate comprehensive learning through systematic cadaveric dissection, ensuring students gain a first-hand perspective of human morphology.
  • Marma Preservation: To specialize in the identification and therapeutic application of the 107 Marma points, bridging the gap between structure and vital energy.
  • Clinical Correlation: To teach anatomy not just as a static subject, but as a dynamic foundation for Shalya Tantra (Surgery) and clinical examination.
